Sagem Signs MOU with Ningbo Bird

Sagem has signed an MOU with China's Ningbo Bird for setting up a 50-50 joint venture piloted by Sagem. Both companies have invested US$1.5 million to build a research and development center in China. Handsets developed by the joint venture will go on sale under the Bird brand in China and Sagem in other countries. Sagem will take care of research and development, marketing, procurement, and manufacturing activities while Ningbo Bird will keep Sagem updated with the development of the Asian market to help them design new models.
